Are peptide bioregulators safe?
What may and may not be claimed
In the European Union, peptide bioregulators are sold as food supplements, not as medicines. All the peptide products sold by GAVAU.LT are food supplements under Directive 2002/46/EC. This means that the authorisation procedure for medicines does not apply to them and that the clinical safety and efficacy assessment obligatory for medicines has not been carried out.
Food supplements are subject to food safety requirements: composition, labelling, notification to the national authority and a ban on making unauthorised health claims. The answer to the question “is it safe” is therefore not “yes” or “no” — the correct answer is which regulatory category the product is in and what may not be claimed about it.

Which category these products are in
All the peptide products sold by GAVAU.LT are food supplements under Directive 2002/46/EC.
Food supplements sold in Lithuania are notified to the State Food and Veterinary Service (VMVT). Notification is a registration procedure — it is not a confirmation of safety or efficacy.
Health claims are governed by Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 and by the list of authorised claims drawn up on its basis (Regulation (EU) No 432/2012).
Food Supplement is not a substitute for medicine and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any disease.
What may and may not be claimed about peptide bioregulators
In the European Union not a single health claim has been authorised for peptide bioregulators under Regulation (EU) No 432/2012.
A shop, a manufacturer or a consultant is therefore not permitted to state lawfully that they treat, protect against disease, stop ageing or produce any other specific health outcome. Only supportive, function-describing language is allowed (“helps maintain”, “contributes to”), together with factual descriptions of composition and origin.
- Describing the composition and the origin of the peptides (e.g. “peptides isolated from cartilage tissue”)
- Naming the tissue or organ system assigned by the manufacturer
- Using supportive wording (“helps maintain”, “contributes to”)
- Stating the form, package, price, manufacturer and country of origin
- Quoting data published by the manufacturer or the institute, clearly naming the source
- Stating that a product treats or relieves a specific disease
- Stating that a product prevents a disease or diagnoses one
- Using the words “proven”, “scientifically substantiated”, “guarantees”, “safe”
- Making claims about stopping ageing or extending lifespan
- Presenting the manufacturer’s statements as independently verified facts
GAVAU.LT keeps to this boundary throughout the catalogue. If you find a statement anywhere on the site that does not, tell us — we will correct it.
Who these food supplements are not suitable for
The manufacturer and the general rules for food supplements set out the following restrictions:
- In the case of individual intolerance of, or allergy to, the ingredients.
- During pregnancy and breastfeeding — there is not enough data for this group.
- For children and adolescents under 18 years of age — there is not enough data for this group.
- When taking medicines or with a diagnosed health disorder — you must consult a doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. The recommended daily dose is always stated on the label of the particular product and on its product page.
How peptide bioregulators differ from injectable research peptides
Peptide bioregulators are oral or sublingual food supplements, whereas injectable research peptides (BPC-157, TB-500, CJC-1295, GHK-Cu, Ipamorelin, Retatrutide, Tirzepatide, MOTS-c) are an entirely separate category, which are not food supplements and which GAVAU.LT does not sell.

Which documents exist and which do not
Available: manufacturers’ declarations of conformity and composition data, provided on request. Manufacturers declare GMP-certified production and batch control.
Not available: batch HPLC/COA certificates of the kind customarily required in the injectable research peptide market — in the food supplement category this is not standard practice.
Not available: independent clinical trials carried out by GAVAU.LT. All the scientific data cited by the manufacturer are data published by the manufacturer and the institute.

Frequently asked questions about safety
Do peptide bioregulators have side effects?
Like any food supplement, they may cause an individual reaction to the ingredients. When they are taken in line with the recommended daily dose stated on the label and none of the restriction groups listed above applies, the manufacturer gives no further instructions. If an unusual reaction occurs, stop taking the product and consult a doctor.
Is a prescription needed?
No. These are food supplements and they are sold without a prescription. That does not mean they are suitable for everyone — see the list of restrictions above.
Can they be taken together with medication?
Before combining any food supplement with medicines you should consult a doctor or a pharmacist. GAVAU.LT is not a healthcare provider and does not give such consultations.
Have the products been tested in a laboratory?
Manufacturers declare batch quality control within their own production systems. GAVAU.LT does not carry out laboratory testing itself and does not fund independent testing.
